Oak Unlimited partners with Canadian furniture brands to support local businesses and improve product availability.
Oak Unlimited, a recognized furniture retailer in Durham, the GTA, and the Kawarthas region since 1995, has now transitioned to 100% Canadian-made furniture crafted by Mennonites, including Handstone Furniture, Cardinal Woodcraft and local independent craftsmen based out of St. Jacobs. Customers can now access top-quality, Canadian-made wooden furniture for their dining room, living room, home office, and more. The company made the decision in an effort to ensure better quality control, increase product availability of customer favourites, and to support local businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Transitioning to 100% Canadian brands was a difficult decision to make due to our long-standing relationship with Amish furniture makers working out of Ohio,” said Mark Brown, owner of Oak Unlimited. “But as the pandemic progressed, we decided that our way of showing support for local businesses would be to offer 100% Canadian brands. The reaction from our customers has been overwhelmingly positive as they appreciate knowing that their furniture was made here in Ontario.”
Oak Unlimited has also seen a strong show of support from the Canadian manufacturers that they continue to support.

Oak Unlimited believes this initiative will improve every aspect of the customer experience by reducing logistical costs and delays they had experienced at the border due to COVID-19. They also plan to use this opportunity to improve overall quality control when it comes to sourcing new products and adding new manufacturer’s to their product catalogue.
Oak Unlimited recently replaced one-third of the store’s floor models with new products in modern, traditional, and contemporary styles and showcasing a variety of wood stains and finishes. The company is currently seeing customers by appointment-only to ensure the safety of both customers and employees.
