A family-run Bowmanville furniture store since 1995
Oak Unlimited is owned and run by Mark and Denise, the same couple who opened the store more than 30 years ago. There is no sales floor staff or call centre between you and the people making decisions. When you walk in, you will usually find one of them ready to help you choose a wood, compare stains or work out the right size for your room.
We recently reopened in a fully renovated showroom on King Street West, and the approach has not changed. Oak Unlimited is a dealer rather than a factory, which means the furniture is built by trusted Ontario makers while Mark and Denise make sure every detail is right for your home. You can read what customers have to say on our customer reviews page.
Ontario makers under one roof
Rather than filling the floor with dozens of imported brands, we focus on solid wood from a small group of Ontario makers we know well. From Handstone, we carry three collections: Tribeca, with its modern, geometric lines; Pemberton, with sculpted curves inspired by British Columbia's Pemberton Valley; and Evora, with its relaxed, mid-century character. From Cardinal Woodcraft, we carry custom dining tables, chairs and sideboards handcrafted by local Mennonite craftspeople in the Elmira area.

Why shopping local makes a difference
Buying from a local, family-run store gives you real people to talk to before and after your purchase. You can sit on the furniture and feel the finish, get help specifying the wood, stain and size, and call the same people later if a question comes up. Your purchase also supports a Bowmanville business and Ontario craftspeople rather than a distant warehouse.
In practical terms, that means:
You speak directly with the owners, never a call centre.
We check your measurements and hold stain samples next to your own flooring or cabinet photos.
Delivery is handled locally and is free across Durham Region, the GTA and cottage country.
Your piece is built by Ontario craftspeople rather than shipped across an ocean.
Shopping local also means you can come back. If you want to look at a stain sample again, bring in a new photo of your room or ask how to care for your new table, the people who helped you choose will still be here. That kind of follow-through is hard to find at a big-box store or an online checkout, and it is a big part of why buying furniture locally in Durham Region pays off over time.
